How do I kill weeds and clover in my yard without killing grass?

Ortho is a great product, unfortunately, should you have a population of Clover or Oxalis, is is kind of half and half on that.
Up front I will state you should always use a liquid application of weed killer. First you have better control. Second it dries within hours and within hours has less residual effect on you, pets, etc. Granulars combined with ferts are great, however, the residual effect of the chemical can linger for days given the rainfall or irrigation available.
The most effective clover and oxalis control is 2-4D. Most general weed control sprays contain MCPP and Dicamba. You really need the 2-4D with these other two agents to combat the problem. You may need to go to a store that specializes in supplying Landscapers to get all three products in one spray (go mid morning to mid afternoon for the best service).
Make sure you are fertilizing your lawn properly with a granular 10-10-10 and minerals fert. Set your mower height to a minimum of three inches from now until late fall. Fert in six week intervals between March and early June, then Mid-Sept to Nov. Topseed at 2lbs/1,000 sq ft with a Certified Seed Mixture (3 or more varities with no weed seed) two weeks after any weed killer application.
Understand that a weed killer in the spring is a "control" measure. Elimination of weeds occurs in the Fall!! On my University I sprayed in Mid-Sept and again in six weeks. This program, in a Philadelphia University, eliminated virtually all Dandy, clover, oxalis, and wild onion and garlic within two years Hope it helps. I am at gjgjobs@yahoo.com

pull them or use ortho weed-b-gone. Spot spray it on the weed itself. It doesn't kill grass.
