June bugs?

Question:Where do June bugs go during the day when they aren't hoarding at my trees (evening time) by the THOUSANDS!? If I put a floorless tent on my lawn, will they start emerging from the grass when I'm in the tent in the evening. Geez, there are so many, I'm affraid to leave my house in the evening. Seriously, there are Thousands of them!

Answers:
June beetles usually stay in the soil of your turf during the day. IF they haven't already, they will soon begin to lay their eggs about 2 to 5 inches into the soils of your lawn. Within 3 to 4 weeks, the larvae will emerge and begin feeding on the roots of your lawn. They will continue to feed for another 5 to 6 weeks.

Feeding of large numbers of grubs causes lawns to turn yellow and die. They are particularly particularly fond of Bermudagrass, St. Augustine grass and tall fescue. but will also attack the roots of vegetables and ornamental plants.

They only reproduce once a year but if left untreated, they will continue to become a large problem next year.

I would advise you apply a safe granular such as "Bayer Advanced Lawn Insecticide" that contains the active ingredient; "Imidacloprid". You simply broadcast these granules onto your lawn and then apply water so that the product will move into the feeding areas of the grubs. A single application will provide protection for up to 3 months.

Hope this answers your question and helps solve your problem. GOOD LUCK!

Great answer above but I'd add one thing, don't apply the stuff now....wait until the eggs have been laid and the young grubs emerge. (he give good timing info) The younger the grub, the easier to kill..plus they have started migrating deep into the soil.
I dont know where the go but I know where they come from. They are Grub Worms.
