Are you supposed to dead head Gerber Daisies?

Question:My Gerber Daisies are looking weedy at the bottom. The spent blooms are gone but the stalk is still there and brown. Should you dead head under the bloom or all the way down to the bottom of the stalk?

Answers:
I do, I think it looks better anyway.

I just deadhead the tops. I never heard of cutting them down to the wick. Are they sunburned or over watered maybe?
I pinch off the flowers at the bottom of the stems and have always had new ones come back soon after
Dead head down to the bottom of the stalk. The plant will then put it energy into new growth and new buds rather than into the spent stalk.
I cut the entire stalk. The plants look better, and they start putting out a new flower quicker.
