What is this green caterpillar clinging on a ball wrapped in a really thin coat of silk?

Question:Just a few minutes ago I found a green caterpillar. It's REALLY small. About a milimeter. It's wrapped in a really thin coat of silk that's totaly see through. Anyone know why it's like that?

Answers:
put it in a jar with a piece of screen or cheesecloth on top and secure it with a rubberband. set it on a shelf out of direct sunshine and wait till it emerges.. (can take up to 6-8 weeks) it's really fun doing this. you never know what your going to get!... could be a butterfly, Moth or predatory wasp...try it.

The caterpillar has not finished spinning the silk.
It's probably in the process of making a cocoon to turn it's self into some winged insect.
