My wife enjoys GARDENIAs! In fact this spring we bought (i) a tree gardenia as well as (ii) a hardier bush gardenia. Each sits in a beautiful large ceramic planter next to the main exterior front and back doors.
The tree gardenia is a tropical plant with bigger white blossoms (almost like a white rose except the petals don't drop and the stem below the flower is shorter). Both plants have many buds just waiting to open.plus they are very fragrant!
The passion flower looks like it is from outer space.
Roses are hard to beat for lots of blooms, beautiful individual blooms and long lasting color.
The Lotus flower to me is one of the most beautiful

Strictly for looks alone, I'd vote for bearded Iris. The different shades of color, plus the unusual shape make them absolutely gorgeous to me.
