Help Powdery Mildew is killing my lawn?

Question:What can I do to save grass? Yes it is in a shady area and there is no way around that.

Thanks in advance for your help

Answers:
You need to purchase the fungicide manufactured by Ortho, called "Multi-Purpose Fungicide" which contains the fungicide "Daconil 2787". You can get it at any Walmart, Home Depot, or Lowes garden center. This is the best on the market and I have used it for over 20+ yrs.. It works on trees, shrubs, flowers, and turf diseases and funguses. Follow the mixing directions supplied with the concentrate. It comes in liquid form and is easy to mix. You will need to repeat this spray application 7 to 10 days after the first, for complete control. When you apply, do the whole lawn area in an even spray pattern. Here is a link with some info on this product... Hope this answers your question.

Edit : The re-entry time for Daconil is after chemical has "dried", not a "month" as stated below!

You need a fungicide..and very quickly. Go over to Home Depot or Lowe's and talk to their garden center experts.
There's no straightforward answer, because dead patches in the lawn can be caused by insects or fungal diseases. Fungal diseases will usually produce dead areas with a definite outline or pattern. Look, too, for fine webbing over the grass leaves. I'm not sure where you are fromso the products may be different Treat with a fungicide high in sulpher such as Mancozeb Plus or Bayleton and water the lawn in the morning, rather than the evening so that the leaves of the grass don't stay wet all night long.
One of the best remedies for powdery mildew according to Ohio Sate University is 1 cup of milk in a gallon of water sprayed on he plans every 5 days until the PM is gone (usually 1 or 2 applications).

I have not tried this on grass (never had a PM problem on my lawn) but have had great success using this on flowers and vegetable crops.

The best part is it's cheap and unlike fungicides like Daconil, it is no carcinogenic so you don't have to worry about keeping pets and kids off the grass for a month
