Start sowing in mid March - earlier if you can start them under cover then sow through until July. This is for the slightly warmer southern region. You can move the dates a week or so forward for more northern climes.

The growing season for carrots in UK is almost any time. However, for best results, sow the seeds in March/April then thin out in May.

You'll find the instructions on the back of the packet of seeds.

You can grow 'baby carrots' in about six weeks. You still have plenty of time if you want these for salads etc.

The main thing to bear in mind about the growing season of any food plant, is that the early part of the year is usually pretty vital. This is when the days get longer thus the growth rate it at maximum. After the Summer Solstice, which we have just had, the days slowly begin to get shorter, thus growth slows down. Then the leaves all fall off etc.
The end of Febuary.
