Small Roses?
Question:How do you care for small (baby) roses in a pot? They were given to me for mother's day and are already dying! I have watered them consistantly.
Answers:
You may be watering them to much, they don't like wet roots. Also do you have it in an area of indirect sun? They do best in a room with lots of indirect light. If you have it in the same pot that it was bought in it may need a new slightly larger pot, or maybe a better mix of soil. I had one that did ok indoors and decided to plant it in an outdoor garden that has morning to early afternoon sun, then i mulch heavily in the winter, it has more blooms on it then it ever did indoors-you might try this if your winters are moderately mild.
Maybe some miracle grow. Sometimes the heat is too much.. Are they in full sun? Do they get too much sun or not enough?
Lime is also a good supplement to nourish Roses!
Good luck...
my roses are in part shade and they are beutiful... just keep getting eaten by the beetles! Using Seven dust to combat that problem! (Mine were a gift for Mom's day last year!)
Good luck! :)
Are they young roses or are they miniature roses? There's a difference. Miniature roses can stay in a container, but it must be at least 5 gallons (bigger is better). All other roses need to go in the ground or a half-barrel size container.
Don't water too much, as roses don't like to sit in muck. Dig down in the soil with your finger and if it's dry, give them water. If it's still moist, leave them be.
About 6 hours of sunlight. Afternoon shade is ok.
Bayer 3-In-1 rose food is what I like to use. Follow the directions on the bottle EXACTLY.
I used to have the same problem until I began planting my special mother's day, birthday, etc miniatures in a little garden in my yard. Now they do phenomenally well!
Supposedly they grow indoors, but they really need a few hours of direct sunlight.
