What kind of shrubs/bushes can I plant that will grow in the shade?
Question:I have area that I want to block out the neighbors. I want to plant tall shrubs or bushes there, but it is totally in the shade. It is warm as I live in Atlanta, but no sun. HELP!
Answers:
Camelias would be nice, but are extremely slow growers.
There are Fatsias (Fatsia Japonica) that have a huge fan shaped leaf and the bush gets 5 - 8' tall and 6' - 10' wide.
Formosa Azaleas do well in deep shade too with the bonus of spring blooms. These are prone to lace bugs and must be fed through the growing season to keep them blooming good - there are easy to use products on the market to help with this.
Leyland cypress grow extremely fast (up to 3 per year) but may not tolerate deep shade. They do well with at least 3 or 4 hours of sun, but do best in full sun. If you are getting any amount of sun over there, then I would check these out.

Good Luck! If all else fails, you have some wonderful garden centers in your area who would be most helpful in fulfilling your need!
Camellias
Depending on where you are, the Flowering Maple plant is an evergreen that begins vine-like in smaller pots (6") and when you plant them outside they burst into huge bushes that grow 25' high. You do need some sort of support like a chain link fence or trellace but the flowers are incredibly beautiful and come in all different colors. Ask your local nurseries.
