Growing hibiscus?
Question:HELP!!
I just bought ahibiscus and planted it outside. I live in indiana.
Am i going to be able to keep it through the winter out there? how can i do that? Please help me Thanks

It depends on what type of hibiscus you have. Some hibiscus can be okay outside over winter up to zone 5b. So, it also depends on what part of Indiana you live in. Below is a link to the USDA zone map, so you can find out what zone you are in. The second link will tell you, depending on what type of hibiscus it is, what zone it can tolerate winter in. If you do end up needing to bring it inside for the winter, it will most likely lose a lot of it's leaves and may not put out any flowers. At the end of the cold season you can put it back outside again, and it will be fine. Otherwise, you just bought yourself a nice annual! Hope this helps!
You will have to bring it in in the winter. It won't make it through. I live in Texas and have to bring mine in,,even with our mild winters.
Not likely to survive the winter in your zone. Hibiscus are tropical heat lovers (heat encourages bloom) zone 9. You'll have to pot it and take it inside to overwinter.
Cuttings will root in water and in soil with rooting hormone.
You need to find out what variety it is. A rule that seems to work is how much you spent for it. A hardy hibiscus is usually around $10.00, and a tropical one is around $30.00.
I am in NW OH and I have a Lord Baltimore. It gets 12' tall with HUGE red blooms, and the plant gets larger every year. It cost me $7.99 5 years ago.
It depends on what type of Hibiscus you purchased. I live in Michigan, zone 5, and I have several Hibiscus that are hearty. They are all lush and beautiful every year and I have several different colors. I'd be glad to send you seeds, if you wish to supply an address to the yahoo site or email me, or contact the place you purchased the Hibiscus and find out just what type you have. I have dinner plate size Hibiscus in dark pink, a white with a red center and I can't remember the other one...(hasn't bloomed yet this year, I forget).
