How do I grow an oak tree from an acorn?

Question:

Answers:
put it in the ground and water it, normally works in my garden without any help.

1. Place some crocks at the base of a pot, then nearly fill it with soil, mixed with some compost.
2 Plant their seed about 2cm (0.8in) deep, then cover it up with soil and compost, watering it well.
3. Put their pot in a shady place in the garden for the winter.
4 Ensure you check it from time to time to see if the soil is too dry - but don't overwater it!
5. You will need to wait until spring to see if the seed has sprouted.
6 The tree can grow in a pot as long as you keep repotting it into a bigger pot whenever it gets too cramped.
If you have good luck you may be one of the below persons that can accomplish this.
I don't like to bust your bubble but If it's the tree you want then buy one.
......Acorn tales -- .....
We now have a few interesting tales about acorns.
http://www.oakplus.com/oak_tree_facts.ht...

Acorn tale 1: Chances of making it -- In a good year the oak tree will have many flowers -- up to several thousand. With the right humidity, the right temperature, no late frost in the spring, and sufficient rainfall in the summer, tiny scale-covered acorns (called nubbins at that point) begin to grow. They will mature to become full grown and ripe acorns by late summer.
The chances of one acorn making it to become an oak tree are very slim -- less than 1/10,000. That means that for every 10,000 acorns, only one will become a tree!

Maybe everyone is thinking of the soft maple tree with the whirlly birds that gow so quickly.
When my daughter was a little girl, she used to collect the acorns and get a small container, fill with dirt, water it and set in a sunny place, she had trees growing all over the place, just shove in dirt but don't cover the whole acorn, leave about 1/4 of the acorn exposed
put it under a setting hen and let her hatch it.
The acorn should sprout OK AS LONG AS IT ISN'T PLACED IN THE SHADE OF A LARGER OAK TREE!

Oak trees put out a type of light called red light - this is what causes only 1 in 10,000 of its seeds turning into oak trees every year!

So all the answers above are good - as long as you take care of where the acorn is positioned! (OK - except the one about the hen - weird!)
push it halfway through soft/damp soil. leave it outside to be exposed to the changes through frost and warm. they often sprout, the trick is keeping it alive after 6 months or so by not overwartering it.

we have 50 oak trees on our land and sell saplings.
best to go into a forest and find an oak tree and dig up the seedling close by.
put it in yhe ground and let mother nature take care of it with a little tlc from you it dont take much thats why its called the mighty oak its hardy.
