Whats going on with my Maple Tree? The leaves have small growths on one side--look like tentacles?

Question:

Answers:
They are maple spindle galls. They are caused by a small mite. They do no real harm to the health of the tree. Here is an article with pictures for you to verify and read more about the condition: http://ohioline.osu.edu/hyg-fact/2000/20...

are they red and bumpy ? I know its some kind of a parasite. I have them for years and the tree is OK
its a type of virus. don't touch it. it may not only affect plants. ask your gardening store specialist if they sell an anti- bacteria.
galls
If the growth has just two 'tentacles' these are just the seeds of the maple. Check under Acer (maple) on the net and see if this is what your looking at.
