How do you take care of the flower /stem of a Yucca plant?

Question:After the flower is gone there is a very large tough stem left standing. Do you try to cut it off as it would take a saw or leave it to disintergrate?

Answers:
Cut it out of the plant, or your plant will fall over from the weight. This happened to several of mine. When the others bloomed, I cut the flower stalk off, and no more problems!

I don't understand the question. If you want to harvest the flowering stalk for some sort of decoration then just cut it off as low as you want. You do understand that once a yucca plant (yucca whipplie) blooms the whole plant dies.
