What is permaculture?

Question:Weblinks to sites about permaculture would also be appreciated.

Answers:
I think part of the ideology is to try and replicate the way that in nature you have a range of plants of various types growing together. IE you will have some trees (nuts of some kind), and they provide shade for things that like shade, and shelter from the wind for other things; and the trees are obviously permanent, and other things growing in the vicinity will be a mixture of perennial and bi-annual and annual. Unlike our veg gardens where you have all the (say) annual lettuces in a row, and the onions in a row, and remove them when ready; and perhaps rhubarb (permanent) somewhere. In permaculture I think you combine things more so that some are permanent and some aren't, in such a way that they complement each other.

Actually, I too would like to know more about it!

Permaculture is both a philosophy or lifestyle ethic as well as a design system which utilizes a systems thinking approach to create sustainable human habitats by analyzing and duplicating nature's patterns (ecology).
