Question:I have a are front yard that is need of care. I've laid the top soil and I am preparing to either seed or simply use sod? will the seeding take or will they burn in the summer? seeing is cheaper than sod .. i'm sick of looking at dirt and really want a green lawn immediately. thanks

Answers:
depends on what type of grass...where u live..climate is an issue. you can plug or sprig and wait for bermuda, centipede, or st. augustine to spread. seed can survive if you water like you're supposed to.

yes. just make sure to cover it with straw so the birds don't eat the seed. and keep it watered unless it rains alot where you live.
Yes you certainly can...Just make sure to give it a good layer of straw (not hay) especially if you live in a hot climate with low rainfall. Just make sure to keep it watered well until it is well rooted and don't be in too much hurry to cut it when it's tall. If you do mow make sure you don't cut it too short.
I had 20 dumptrucks of soil leveled in my yard in late july it grew really well.
I live in Missouri we all know it gets hot there!
Grass seed is much cheaper than sod and you still have to water the sod.
I put about 100 pounds of seed on 1/4 acre.
