Ive had my bamboo plant for 2yrs, why are the leaves now turning yellow?
Question:I keep it full of water- should it be in the sun or not?
Answers:
In the spring there is considerable yellowing of the leaves, followed by leaf drop. This is natural and should not cause concern, as bamboos are evergreen and naturally renew their leaves in the spring. They should loose their leaves gradually as they are replaced by fresh new ones. In the spring on a healthy bamboo there should be a mixture of green leaves, yellow leaves and newly unfurling leaves.
Because two years is the average lifespan of a bamboo. And its not healthy.
Yellow leaves mean too much water, brown leaves mean too little water.
STOP WATERING IT YOUR KILLING IT!
It shouldn't be in a place where the plant is going to get scorched, nor should it be in a place where it's going to die. Put it in a place where there is a balance of s sunlight and shade.
is it lucky bamboo? id throw that thing out.all it brought me was bad luck.
Depending on what type of bamboo it is, the problem could be many factors. Too much water, not enough water, root bound, too much direct sunlight, too high of temperatures or too low of temperatures (bamboo freezes easily).
Bamboo not only likes to be root watered, but also likes to be sprayed on the leaves, etc. Remember if you live in a warm climate...you can reduce the temperature in the air by spraying down the leaves of the bamboo above ground. Bamboo prefers a light misting as they are rain forest plants, primarily.
