How do I reduce the number of frogs in my pond?

Question:Hi-- My mom's large backyard pond has become inundated with frogs-- it wouldn't be bad except the season is longer this year and there are many more croakers! She does not want to kill them, but we want to relocate them to a nearby natural pond. Help! We added a few tadpoles to eat mosquitoes- and they multiplied beyond belief.

Answers:
Invite a group of Boy Scouts over to catch and release. They'll have a blast doing it.

get some snakes
Beyond extermination (even that may not prove to work well), there really isn't anything you can do to rid them.

They are great for insect control and lots of "life" in and around ponds means you have a healthy pond.
Kill them frogs are nasty and i hate them

Good luck
What is so bad about frogs?
Encourage a Heron to come and gobble 'em up.
do as you just said, release them at another local pond
Two words for you. HAND GRENADES!!
Hmmm, yeah, snakes would work. Not sure you want a whole bunch of snakes in the backyard pond either, though.

Pepper oil will not kill them, won't hurt the pond's ecosystem, but will push a few of the croakers into less spicy waters. I'd give it a shot.
I feel your mom's pain because they can be really loud at night! Best bet is to fishnet as many frogs as you can and release them to a nearby pond. Then, start a regular chlorine treatment for the ornamental (?) pond to keep mosquitoes away. You'll probably be killing some tadpoles in the process but at least they're not adult frogs.

good luck!
If those are bullfrogs you could always do what my Dad and his brothers did during the Depression, after swimming on Saturday afternoon they would "gig" frogs to take home where Grandma would fry the legs for supper, just as chicken is fried. We had them when I was little and they were good!
Frogs are very beneficial and having them around is a very good sign of healthy conditions for your pond. Catch and release with a boyscout troup would be a great way to go, if froglegs are not a gastronomical delight on your menu.
Have fun!
