When growing cantaloupe and watermelon should the fruit be sitting on the earth or raised up on something?

Question:Have some growing and I thought it was a practice that I have heard of.

Answers:
It's usually fine for the fruit to be resting on the ground. The melons you buy in the store are grown this way. The slightly yellowish spots on some watermelons show where the melon rested on the ground, and it's perfectly harmless. You do want to be sure that the ground under your melons isn't muddy or waterlogged. This will lead to rot and is a sign that you're overwatering.

It will help keep the melons from rotting if you will put the fruit on straw or a similar material. Newspaper will work, but it doesn't look as nice, and with straw, you can just till it back into the ground next time around.
Well... since I don't know I'm attaching a link, but just wanted to say hallo, ask how are you and hopefully your growing will be super-sweet fruit!!
