How do you get algae out of your pool?

Question:we have an excessive amounts of algae in our home swimming pool. how can we get rid of it?

Answers:
Find out how much shock you need for your pool size, and shock it! Let the filter run for 6 hours, and vacuum to WASTE! Your pool must be really full to do this. The algae will get so fine that it would go through you filter sand otherwise, and you would be wasting your time. When you think it is all out...get some "FLOCK" to bring the small parts together, and Vacuum to waste again, then backwash filter and your ready to go.

get a check of the water balances and then have a pool supply company tell you how much shock treatment to get and what kind...might have to scrub a lot too..good luck
Using pool chemicals should keep the algae growth down. Go to a pool center or Lowe's or Home Depot & ask what they'd recommend.
A small sheaf of barley straw will keep your pool clean. Available from pet shops.
Depend on how much algae. If it is real green then you should use some shock, then drain it, clean the dirt out as you go, and refill it. Once it gets so green it can get insects in there too. Like ringworm.
