Can bromelias cause allergic reaction on skin?

Question:How is it? And what kind of bromelias cause these allergic reactions?

Answers:
I have grown all types of these plants over the years. The only problem that I have had with them is sometimes the edges of the leaves have small teeth and they scratch the skin. But if you have ended up with a rash from them try some benidryl cream and if it doesn't work quit growing the plants or see a doctor.

Hi! Bromeliads have scales on them and some are very fuzzy. Some of the fuzzy ones (Tillandsia tectorum comes to mind), if handled frequently, can cause a physical irritation to sensitive skin or may get into the eyes. This is not common however.
