How can i save my crab apple tree?

Question:My fiance and I just found some trees outside Canadian Tire that were thrown out. They are still in there containers and they look like they are dying. The only noticable signs is that there leaves are dried up and have fallen off. We would like to save them and plant them in front of our building. Is this a waste of our time or can we save the trees? Thanks Fawn.

Answers:
scratch the bark if green shows up under the bark there is life get a product called superthrive pore some on the roots and spray some on the branches do this when the tree needs water also every time you walk by the tree spray the branches with water

I think what you should do is replant them in new soil and water them on a regular basis but don't over water them on the first day.
These trees are dead and not worth the time or effort. You shouldn`t plant them even if they showed signs of life, as they would be very weakened and very susceptible to insect invasion and disease. It would cost you far more in time and effort, not to mention fungicides, etc., than just purchasing a healthy tree to start with. Also, this is a poor time of year to plant even a healthy tree. Wait until fall.
We also had this problem. We realized that ants burrowed inside the trees trunk and were eating the tree from the inside out. We had to cut it down, their was no saving it.
The only time crabapple trees look nice is in the spring for 2 weeks while they are bloomng. They are very prone to disease and need to be sprayed constantly with fungicide. I wouldn't bother.
