I am wasting a lot of water when watering plants?
Question:I have an outdoor faucet to connect the hose to for summer watering. I loose a lot of water through the joint. Though i made sure that the connection/threading is really tight i still loose a lot of water. Can someone suggest how to fix this leak. Is there a washer or tape needed for the faucet-hose joint. I have similar problem with my front yard outdoor faucet-hose joint.

Get a new gasket for the hose. There should be a rubber gasket inside the hose where you turn it to thread it onto the faucet. If the leak comes out under the part that turns, you need a new hose (or cut the end off and replace end).
Usually they have a washer inside the the hose connection. This may have fallen out with usage if it is a screw on type. If it is a click on type they have a rubber 'o' ring around the part that snaps onto the tap connector this may be worn or lost also. If your connections are the very cheap types sometimes they are not correctly manufactured and never fit properly.
If you are loosing alot of water this may be more expensive than replacing the fittings, which are easily bought from department stores. If your tap is next to a building the continual dampness from the leak can cause cracking in the building so it is worthwhile to correct the problem.
Your hose should have a rubber washer in the end of it . if it doesn't you can purchase one at a local hardware , walmart or kmart you can also try plant and garden stores.. it should fit snugly .. and reduce leaking .. just tell a sales person what you are looking for ..
It sounds like you have lost the washer from the end of the hose that goes onto the tap. If it is still there, remove the old one and replace with a new one. You could also use two to make sure the leek stops. Water bills are going through the roof, so a drip saved is money saved.
