What kind of oil does a garden tractor use?

Canola should work fine, if not then try regular 40 weight oil.
30 w (weight ) non detergent motor oil
In summer usually 30 wt oil, in winter (cold weather) use 10w30. If you live somewhere where it does not get cold in the winter use 30 wt year round. This would be automotive type engine oil, not cooking oil ??
on small engines like that it really doesnt matter. as long as it's an automotive oil !
