How do I make a sloped lot into a level area to build a monolythic slab?

Question:I am interested in building a garage on my property. My property is on a slope. How should I go about backfilling the area to make it level enough to put a monolythic slab onto for a garage?

Answers:
You will need a building permit and grade change permit to do this and the city will inspect to make sure it is done properly. If done incorrectly your garage slab may crack and you may create drainage problems for yourself or your neighbours.

You will need a back hoe or Bob Cat to move the earth around, then a foot or more of gravel well compacted before pouring the slab. If you don't already know how to do this, you should hire a contractor.
