When you see a snail crossing your path in your front garden, do you think it knows where its going to?

has there been any studys done to see if they know whats up?

I can never follow them to see where they are going because they are to fast and get away every time
they havent a clue where theyre going, as most of them slither straight into the piles of salt ive put out for them.

I think they know exactly where they are going, right to my plants to eat my leafs. So when I see them I through them far away.
they seem to home in on my asparagus, like they have sat nav or something
I just squash the slimey little mess making aliens.
they usually end up on the bottom of someones shoe!

Well - the 12 I just crunched on my path have found out where they're going - wonder if there is a snail heaven full of light footed people, beer you don't drown in, lettuces not surrounded by blue pellets and thrushes & hedgehogs kept out behind a giant fence they can't get over?!
I asked a snail once but it used snail talk so I was none the wiser. It was then that I stopped taking the magic mushrooms.
I saw a snail on top of a tortoise once, and if you listened really carefully you could just hear the snail shouting "WHoaaaa! slow down."
I think they are looking for food and/or sex. It's a simple (short) life.
I got really annoyed with one the other day,
well it had been following me around all day
one of them was at my doorstep the other day, and I tossed him into the garden, and then I remembered a joke about a snail knocking at this dude's door, when he opened the door there was this snail on the doorstep and he tossed him away. a few days later there was knock at the door and the dude went to answer it and there was that snail again, and the snail said "what did you do that for??"
Snails on my path may think they know where they are going but not if I CATCH THEM FIRST. They then get thrown with great velocity over the fence, onto the road. I cant bear to kill them so I COWARDLY leave that to others.
If its any sense it would`nt cross my path or it would finish up on the big allotment in the sky !
It is probably goiiing back form whence it came - 'they' say that they 'home' like pigeons !! I send mine to the local waste disposal centre ( about 5 miles away) with my recycling- by the time they get back they will be soooooo tired.
If you have Lettuce growing within 30 foot you can bet your life it does!
I watched a a snail the other day walk in front of my window and then it disapeared -weird! I too lead a sad life.
