I am cleaning my lake beach from leaves but when I rake I lose precious sand when removing pile. Any ideas?

make a 2 ft X 2 ft sift out of 1X or 2X with 1/2, 3/8, or 1/4 inch screen... and put the last of the pile through this... the sand will go through and the leaves will be left on the sift...
