Holly bushes are always gorgeous.
Boxwood
Yes. I grow Murraya shrubs. They are an Australian native and get small honey scented white flowers. The shrub is really thick and small glossy green leaves. It responds very well to pruning or grows simply into a lovely fat ball. It tolerates really hot summers and little water and also can stand heavy frosts or freezing weather. It's brilliant.
Holly, boxwood, roses, tam juniper, crawling juniper, you didn't say what zone you live so hard to tell.
Azaleas..They can grow quite big..but take a cutting as much as you need to..you can trim them all you want or let them go big..they are also happy to be "pot bound", grown in a container..they have multitudes of flowers that bloom like crazy every year..and are somewhat cold tollerent.they grow in Florida panhandle where we do have cold spells in the 20's..yes Florida has cold too lol.they handle this without no special covering etc in winter..not sure what they would do further north though...
