How do you know when it is time to give your chives a crewcut?

Question:My chives look like a "hippie"(no offense). I have plenty that I have already dried, any suggestions on what to do with the remainder.

Answers:
I trim up chives and especially garlic chives in the spring before they really start growing.

I live in a moderateish climate where they come back year after year. So even a mid-summer haircut wouldn't hurt them.

They will continue to grow....Keep them fresh chives with sour cream on a baked potato Yum Yum!
