If I buy farmland in Scotland, how can I get planning permission if the property isn't for agricultural use?

Question:

Answers:
Do do what? agricultural use.you want to start a farm...not sure what you want to do.

Depends entirely on the local planning office. Sometimes yes and sometimes no.

.
If it is not zoned for agriculture, then it is not farm land. You would have to petition the planning commission for a change in zoning. This may or may not be granted. It might be wise to speak to all the neighbors and see what they have to say about it. There will be public hearings about the change and if the neighbors don't want it, the commission may not grant the change. good luck.

You may also want to contact a real estate broker and see what they have to say. I would make changing the zoning as part of the purchase agreement. If you can't change it, then you don't have to purchase it.
