How can I bring my grass back to life?

Question:I recently bought a house and have been doing some renovations to the inside. I'm ready to move in and the outside grass looks horrible. It hasn't been watered in about a month or so. Its brown and prickly.. is there anything I can do to save it? Any suggestions are helpful!
Thanks!!

Answers:
Water it.

excessive amounts of water and fertilizer.
Food and Water !
well just treat it better.
1. put some water in it (not on rainy days though)
2. get richer soil
3. 1/2 cup of plant food on all of it
4. give it lots of sunlight
5. when it grows too high mow it
treat it like this and it slould get better
oh my fellow american ask not what you can do for your grass ; but what your grass can do for you.
definitely the obvious which is water...possibly fertilizer, but you have to be really careful that you don't put on too much because fertilizer can 'burn' a lawn and destroy it.
If the lawn is older and in a very sunny spot, it could be compacted and water will drain off it, instead of into it.
I suggest that you rent an aerator machine that will plug small clumps of dirt to the surface so that the water can penetrate the soil. The walk-behind machines can aerate a city front lot in about half an hour.
It takes a year or two to get a neglected lawn back to it's former days of glory.
You can start by watering your lawn, at least 2x a day. Once in the morning and once in the evening for about 20 minutes each time. After a day or two feed it. Water it this way for a couple of weeks. Once your lawn starts to come back you can water your lawn once a day. Water early morning and late evening. Do not water when the sun is out. The water will never make it down to the roots if the sun is out. Hope this helps.

Scott's Turf Builder from the hardware store, the garden supply house or even Wally-Weird. Just follow the directions. Then mow high, not low. Very important. Mowing high seems to prevent weeds.
