I have a 25yrs old cherry tree at the bottom of my garden,it is a mass of cherries for 1st time in five years.

Question:could it be the strange weather

Answers:
The answer to this problem is common sense, think about it. After one of the sunniest and warmest April's ever in 'Old Blighty', (mariners term for Britain) just when the cherries and other fruit trees were in blossom, making perfect pollination conditions for our busy bee's and other insects. When the blossoms had set, along came the rain to water the greedy tree roots, and keep pests at bay. ''Perfic'' as we say in rural Shropshire. I don't have cherries but my apples and pears are are the best I've ever seen them. The same applies all about. We are on about thinning the fruits out. Suppose something or other will be wrong for the farmers though, never satisfied that lot. Well there's my answer, it may not be ''Perfic'' but its true.
Don't get the belly ache with too many of them cherries.
Just heard we've got a heatwave coming, honest !!

funny you should say that, I noticed the other day that all of my bedding plants are going wild creating huge busting seed pods in June?

It was Aug/Sept last year before i got that, don't know why though...
Racoons have eaten all of ours :( But good luck, I hope they make a good crop!

I like your name, btw - holler, the end of serfdom! Sorry, I am such a history nerd. ;)
Im not quite sure, maybe because of hotter weather earlier but i cant understand why its "blooming" now due to the strange floods, yes i would agree with you on the weather!
My Rhubarb and black currants have been going mental and have grown quicker and earlier!

Very nice! Are you going to ship me a bushel or do I have to drive over? LOL, the funny weather is causing all sorts of anomalies in vegetation this year!
Kin I hav som pie? =D
Lucky devil! One I bought at Lowe's on sale last year gave us 6 or 9 cheries this year... Yummi!
Have you gotten rid of some of the neighboring trees perhaps?

Is it getting more sun than it has been the last five years?

That's my guess. Or its finally gotten tall enough to get into the sun it needs to produce flowers and fruit.
Its due to the hotter weather earlier on in the year and then all the rain afterwards.
