How do I (well mother in law) get moles out of the garden?

Question:My mother-in-law has a small garden and her tomoto plants has recently started dying and she has found mole holes in it. anyone know of a way to get rid of moles in your garden?

Answers:
Try sprinkling castor oil around their holes. Both gophers and moles do not like castor oil.

One recipe is as follows: Repellent. In a glass jar mix 1/2 cup of Castor oil, 1 teaspoon of Tabasco sauce and a few drops of peppermint oil with about a cup of water. Shake well to create an emulsion. Dip cotton balls into the mixture and stick the balls into active gopher holes near plants that you want to protect. Be sure to wear gloves!

Or add one-half cup Castor Oil (available at the drug store) to two gallons of water, and drench the tunnels or mole hills with the liquid.

Also, the only proven way is to use traps that actually kill the varmints.

Good luck.

If she digs in the garden, she will probably find Grubs. Grubs are the main source of food for moles. Use a pesticide that kills Grubs and the moles will leave.
get her a cat/dog that can stay outside and scare away the moles...

or a scarecrow?
Moles do not like the caper spurge, so plant a few of them in and around the garden, especially close to daffodil bulbs and castor bean plants if you have them.
I've heard of many solutions that are people friendly and not likely to kill the garden. I heard that planting garlic or scallions is a deterrent. I've also been told that putting gum in their holes is also a deterrent. I think planting daffodils is also a great mole detractor.
get a couple of those plastic yellow flower wind spinners on a metal rod that you stick in the ground. The vibration chases the moles away.
Put them in the center of the garden the first day any then move them 10 feet or so toward the sides each day until you have one on each end of the garden.

Or you can put a vacuum hose from the tail pipe of your car down one of the holes and let your car run for an hour. Don't bother trying a water hose they'll just block the tunnel off.

I have used both ways.
