We have a bunch of little yellow blades of grass coming up. what do you think could be causing this?
Question:could it be too much water, mowing to low or tall, need fertilizer, fungus, brown patch? we live in tx and it has been raining a lot lately. I'm thinking fungus.
Answers:
I'm guessing since you are in Tx you have St. Augustine, it sounds like it is probably grubs Here in florida we just had our June bugs, so the grubs have just hatched. if it is eventually totally killing the grass and you can pick up a whole section of grass just by picking up the stolons then it is deefinately grubs. It could possibly be a type of fungus with all of the rain check for black or dark brown spots on the blades. Go down to wal-mart and find a cheap insecticide, a fungicide, and a couple bags of fert, if you haven't fertilized in a while put down about 1 lb of Nitrogen per 1,000 sq ft. put down like 20-5-15 and make sure it has like 1 % iron in it. don't forget to water it in with all of that N it will burn like crazy without water, but don't wash it away. The fert would be the first thing I would do. If it is bugs or fungus, it will be harder to damage healthy grass.
It may be lack of water or it just needs a fertilizer.Buy a good fertilizer and sprinkle over the grass and water it after because it may burn the grass and get more yellow.or ask a local gardener or garden store, they will be able to help with your grass problem.Good luck.=]
if you have a dog, it could be urinating in that area.
if not it is probably in need of fertilizer
Sounds like nutsedge.
Search yahoo for pics of nutsedge and if that's it, you'll need to spray it with Manage or Sedgehammer. May take two applications.
Good Luck!
