Answers:
greens stem cuttings. count 3-4 leave down, cut right over the top of the leaf. Have a container of soil ready pre -moistened and tamped down. Take some round, like a pencil and make a hole in the soil. Plant the basil to right at the bottom of the leaf and carefully with your fingers push the soil toward th plant so it will stand upright. Pinch the top leaves of, they will usually wilt and die off anyway, and this give the plant an easier time to produce new growth. Hint. Try and buy from a local grower and not the grocery store. These plants are tended to by stock people who havent the slightest idea as to water reqiuement, contamination, ect. Start with a healthy plant and you wont have any doubt about the quality you are duplicating
One time, I bought some basil and figured I'd trim off the ends and put them in water like you do with flowers to try to make them last longer. Well, the stems started to sprout roots! I planted it and got a pretty nice little supply for the season. Not that this will work every time, but it is possible!
Only if the stem is woody already, and the cuttings are very fresh.
If all you have is green stems, it won't root
