My Crepe Myrtle has sprouts but no leaves...Is it dead?

Question:The growth from last year has the small leaf sprouts. It sprouted months ago but has done nothing since.

I live in NC and we had almost no rain from April until the end of June. however I have not noticed this problem on other Crepes in the area.

HELP!

Answers:
if your crepe are not blooming by lets say two weeks from now. you probably do not have in enough full sun . this is why the are planted on every freeway in NC. they love sun and love high iron rich soil. iron levels can be changed by adding triple phosphate and pushing large rusty ten penny nails in the ground around the trees.

I'm in NC, too (Beaufort) and all the crepe myrtles have been growing for some time now. If yours is green on the tips, it's not dead, but there IS something wrong with it. Water and fertilize it, and make sure that it doesn't have any type of bugs on it...that's about the best you can do.
