1 Yard of Red mulch cost $35.00. Is it cheaper to by the mulch by the bad at $3.97 per bag at 2 cu. ft?
Question:What is the conversion for cubic feet to yards? I have alot of landscaping to do, and I always see the landscapers using bags, is this cheaper then a yard purchased using a 8 foot pick up?
Answers:
A cubic yard is 27 cubic feet. Slightly cheaper to buy it in bulk, however it is immensely easier to handle in the bags.
no it is cheaper by the scoop
Bagged mulch is ALWAYS more expensive.
There are 9 square feet in a square yard, and 27 cubic feet in a cubic yard.
so $4 for a 2 cubic foot bag translates to $52 for a cubic yard.
Get in with your truck.
1cu yard =3ft x3 ft x 3ft = 27 ft div 2 =13.5 x$4
bulk much cheaper
A yard of mulch is a cubic yard, which is 27 cubic feet. (3X3X3) At 2 cubic feet a bag, that would take 13.5 bags, or 14, if you round up. That would be $55.55. So you'd save 20 bucks to buy it by the yard. I'd buy the yard, especially if you have your own truck to haul it with.
I don't buy mulch anymore,my county offers free mulch its not red but its free and better for the environment. Check with your city or county government they may offer the same program. as I see it why spend money on something your putting down to rot.
27 cubic feet are a cubic yard divide by 2 equals 13.5 X 3.59= MORE
You should check out www.1800topsoil.com and click the calculator. After you see how much you need, they can connect you to one of their local landscapers. They're national, and they usually deliver, I think. Good luck!
