I live near a wooded area and there are several squirrel families that used to plague me. What did I do? I built them a squirrel feeder in the FAR corner of my yard. I bought a squirrel feeder, put it on a post, and keep it full of black-oil sunflower seeds. Not one squirrel has ventured into my yard any farther than their feeder in the past 2 years. This was much easier than poisoning, shooting, trapping, and repelling them.
A pellet gun is effective if you are a good shot, but I like the little buggers.
Squirrels must be taking over the world...I have so many that some times I leave the house and there are 12 in the front yard doing whatever squirrels do...I can't wait to see other answers to your questions so I can use the information too
Squirrels pipe traps, this kills the squirrels by squirrels entering the tube pipe and eating pallets that contain poising or if you dint want to kill them then buy some fake Eagle's or owl's and fake snakes so you could put them around the area.
We were overrun with squirrels some 6 years ago~it was so out of control they were gnawing through the soffits of our home to get to the insulation and wiring.
You can buy small animal traps that are squirrel sized at most big box home improvement stores. They are extremely humane...we trapped some 200 squirrels with them, and released them over the river.
Having a couple of squirrels isn't terribly hard on the yard; it's having a mob of them that creates all that damage.
AS long as you don't have small children moth balls are perfect in keeping them away.
They are cheap, efficient, humane, and don't kill the surrounding plants.
I trap them with a small animal trap with peanut butter and bird seed as a bait. Then I give them swimming lessons.
