I have a tree in my garden,I've just moved in, Shropshire,UK?

Question:Its about 9' high, evergreen leaves, not shiny, with extremely large buttercup like flowers and of the same colour

Answers:
from your description which was not overly graphic, I would say this is a frementodendron, commonly known as Californinia glory. If there are grey hairs or bristles on the underside of the leaves, I am definite. The flowers are about 2.5.ins across and are borne on the new light green shoots. A classy tree or shrub and can grow to 20' in its own habitat, but in UK normally 10 - 12'. Its only draw back is that its not long lived. Mine though has been blooming for 7 years now and is a good show at the moment.

That is nice, it must be pretty. Erm what the question though?
Do you want the name of the Tree? It could be a Hypericum, but I have never seen one that tall. The shape of the leaf would be helpful!
sounds like rose of sharron.
