What is the best grass to grow for horses?


Question:We live on a 77 acre farm and have horses but it the fields are full of weeds and fescue. What are the first steps in making the fields good for horses to eat? Looking for some insight? Get rid of fescue? spray? take soil samples? etc?

Answers:
Plow it up , Till the old grass/ weeds under , and reseed with Timothy ... will make excellent horse hay and fresh grazing.
