What do I do with the flower from an Australian Cordyline (yukka plant)?

Question:I planted it in the garden 5 years ago and this year it flowered, the flowers are all gone now so can I cut the flower head off or do I leave it to drop off itself?
Can anyone advise me please??

Answers:
Remove the dead head then the energy will be spent developing the plants rooted offsets growing at the base of the shrub which can be removed and planted on in the spring.

i think that most people leave it and let if fall itsself but i dont think that i would hurt if you cut it off if it looks bad or you just dont like it, maybe waitn until it dries up and maybe you can just pull it out. but it shouldnt hurt it to get rid of it, its a pretty hardy plant to begin with
You could cut the flower spike off as close to the base as possible - this will keep the plant looking its best - personally though - I love the look of the flowers as they dry!
yeah they do look ugly when finished dont they, you can cut them off, it does no harm, i used to with mine
