Weeds in bramuda grass?
Question:We have that crappy bramuda grass growing in our front yard and it looks decent when kept green and kept up but we have weeds that grow threw out. If I put weed n feed down to kill those weeds will it kill the grass?? I really do not want to have to pull up the whole yard and put seed down and start over this is a rental home.
Answers:
Depends on the type of weed. If the weed is a broadleaf weed - the leaves are wide, not shaped like a blade of grass - then weed-n-feed will kill the weeds. If the weeds are not broadleaf - meaning the leaves are shaped like a blade of grass - then weed-n-feed will not kill the weeds. Either way, though, weed-n-feed will not harm your bermuda grass.
Just get a weed and feed that is formulated for Bermuda grass. Keep it cut short and well watered and that "crappy" Bermuda grass can look pretty good.
Take a trip to your local Tractor Supply Co. they have a type of weed killer that they guarantee will kill the weeds but will not harm your grass or flowers. I'd recommend that.
Hope this helps!! Good luck!!
Broadleaved weeds including clover, chickweed, dandelion, henbit, dichondra and others can be controlled with the hormone type herbicides such as 2,4-D, MCPP, dicamba. Grassy weeds including crabgrass and dallisgrass can be controlled with several applications of MSMA in spring or early summer. Annual grasses including crabgrass and annual bluegrass can be controlled with preemergence herbicides. However, all of these herbicides must be used together with good management to effectively reduce weed populations.
