Anybody know any nursuries that sell scion wood for grafting japanese maples?

Question:

Answers:
To help dwarf the tree and improve winter hardiness (I'm in N. Dakota Z4 and most J-maples are Z5+), I use Amur maple (A. ginnala) for rootstock. My scion wood has all come from friends and family. I once admired a Red Laceleaf in a private yard in Denver. The owner took my address and sent me a couple twigs the following spring free of charge. Let me know what you need and I'll return the favor to you. RScott

At first I thought what a good question. But then I thought why don't you just buy a grafted Jap maple and use it for scion / bud wood. I assume you already have the rootstocks? I never had much success grafting Acer species, but I have done okay bud grafting Acer neguono (varigated). Good luck mate.
Check www.1800TOPSOIL.com or call 1-800-TOPSOIL to see if they have someone local. These guys are national and they usually deliver, I think. Try them and see if they can help you. Good luck!
