How do you get more plants started with what you have? do you break off shoots and where at? thanks.?

Answers:
If you have perennials, you seperate them with a sharp knife or shovel. Just dig into a big perennial (most kinds) and chop it apart.
Some annuals like coleus and impatiens can be rooted in water.
You can also get plants from taking cuttings. You can even do some shrubs and trees like this. A rooting hormone called root tone helps. It will give you directions on bottle. Basically cut, dip in water, dip in rootone, stick in potting soil or other soil.
really depends on the the type of plats you have, i would recommend searching for "propagating (insert your plant name)"
First it depends on the kind of plant.
Some plants can be started nicely by plucking off a leaf and putting it some water with a root hormone (if memory serves).
Other plants can be divided (from the roots). Or wait for you plant to seed.
Depends on what type of plant you have. Some plants multiply on their own and have to be separated every few years, Some plants spread. And others you can clone. To clone most plants, find a shoot that has a few branches (places where new growth can start), cut it with a sharp knife or a razor, wet and dip the end in a rooting hormone powder (available almost anywhere you buy plant supplies) then place the cutting in a cup with a mixture of pearlite/vermiculite on top of some potting soil. (exp; bottom inch of a keg cup is potting soil, then the rest of the cup will be filled with the mixture of pearlite/vermiculite. Keep the mixture moist, it will take about a month for new roots to produce. Don't be surprised if your plant doesn't look like it is doing much, all of the plants energy is going to growing those new roots. Once these roots have been established then you will notice new growth. With other plants you can start new plants with a cutting in a glass of water in your window sill. All depends on what type of plant it is. Ask someone at your local greenhouse/nursery what would be the best method for whatever type of plant you are looking to clone/reproduce.
try leaving an inch and a half remover any branches or leave up Two that and stick in ground apply miracle grow once a week for a mon. you can use root hormone powder too.but not always necessary
Just cut them off the bamboo plant then put it in a glass of water and new roots should appear in about 2-3 weeks.
if the bamboo has roots stick in potting soil in pot. add sun and plenty of co2.
clone them
Cut the bamboo off at an angle, just above a node which is where the leafs grow, so that you have about 4 " to work with.
You'll want the node close to bottom of shoot at a place where it can soak in water, as that is where your roots will sprout from. With most plants, you'll need at least one - two nodes on the shoot, soaking in fresh water. Keep about 1/3 of the stalk ( the node ) immersed in water. Keep the water fresh, and if possible DO NOT use city water or water that's been through a water softener. The best is rain water. Change every two days or so. Keep the container out of the sun to keep algae from forming in the water.
It sometimes takes a few weeks before you see roots.
Good luck.
The bamboo plant u have is not a true bamboo, it's common name is 'lucky bamboo'.
PROPAGATION OF LUCKY BAMBOO ::
I would recommend cuttings. Cuttings are without question the easiest method of propagation besides harvesting seed. Simply cut a tender shoot that is at least six inches long. Remove the lower sets of leaves. Dip the cutting in a rooting compound. Stick the cutting one inch into a good potting mix. Be sure to thoroughly wet the soil prior to planting.
Finally, cover the pot with a clear piece of lightweight plastic. Place the pot in indirect sunlight on an east window seal or under fluorescent lighting. After two weeks, check to see if the plant has rooted by slightly pulling on the stem. If you feel resistance, remove the plastic covering and be sure to keep the soil moist. The plant should then be treated as any other seedling.
Attached is one website that outlines various procedures for the propagation of lucky bamboo.
