Mexican Sunflower?

Question:If I "pinch" the tops of my tithonias (Mexican sunflowers), will they branch, or will I kill the growing portion?

Answers:
They will branch regardless. The first flower may be on the top, but the branches will go out, and you'll have flowers all over it even if you don't touch a thing. They get to be about 5 feet in diameter - need a pretty big chunk of square footage in your garden...but the color is SO intense!! The finches adore the seeds too - I've had a dozen goldfinches feeding on ONE plant before when it was going strong and was covered with blooms.

I wouldn't mess with success. Let it do its thing.

You need to look this up on the internet. Some flowers (such as roses) benefit greatly by deadheading. I am unsure of the mexican sunflower. My friend deadheads her petunias and I don't and they look similar, so go figure!!
