What is the best way to get rid of weeds without killing your lawn?
Question:We have a huge front and back yard, that is absolutely infested with weeds. We tried many different weed killers, some don't do anything, others not only kill the weeds but kill the lawn and we have spots in the yard now that look burnt up. Help?

you can use pesticides but they are really frowned upon these days. some organic products available at most hardware stores help somewhat. in addition to using them you can just dig up individual weeds and frequently resoil and reseed your lawn

Feed and weeds works pretty good but don't use it when its going to rain ,I have found to spray and what comes back pull out by hand I have a big yard too and I just pull out a bucket of weeds every time a feel like gardening and you have to get to them before they flower otherwise you will have a never ending battle,my husband helps as well and I finally seeing results so just spray and pluck spray and pluck till you see results.It can be relaxing my little ones like to help too.
I could be a Weisenheimer and suggest you go out there and start pulling them, but then there are some chemical applications that kill the weeds but not the grass. Many home improvement stores have a variety of choices. Orhto has "Greensweep Weed and Feed' also has "Weed-B-Gone", there's Spectricide's 'Weed Stop'. Some kill more weeds than others. A good application would be to start with one product and wait a week then apply another product to hopefully cover a broader spectrum of weed killing. Like start with 'Weed and Feed' then go over it again if need be with 'Weed-B-Gone' a week later. Be careful not to apply in the middle of a hot day, though. You may end up burning your grass. Either early morning (best), or late afternoon. I've seen a commercail on TV where these 2 guys use different products on their weeds in the grass. One fries his grass along with the weeds, the other still has a lawn left after the application. :)
