Flowers in my flowerbed are being eaten at the root by something HELP!?

Question:We live outside the city about 8 miles, we have alot more critters out her, raccoons, moles, all sorts of unusual bugs. Anyhow, in my flowerbed, I notice my cone flowers look wilted, and pulled them out of the ground... something eats them at the root ! I have had this problem for years. Certain potted flowers, even my cactus, I cannot put out on the deck, because somthing eats them at the root. What on earth is ruining my flower bed flowers? Its not every flower in the bed, but this year its my cone flowers.

Answers:
Cutworms it may be, especially in your potted plants. But I wouldn't rule out gophers and moles. They can really eat up the roots of outdoor plants.

Without a visual diagnosis, my best guess is that you've got cutworms. Cutworms are moth larvae that live in the soil. It's a common problem even in the city. The tell-tale sign is that the plant will be sheared off at a single point right at the soil.

My remedy suggestion assumes that you would not be opposed to using chemical pesticides. I always use granular Triazicide available at most garden centers. Follow the directions on the package and you should be cutworm-free in no time.

Yes - Even in the potted plants :) It's simply wherever a moth lays it's eggs. I'm betting that the orkin man took care of the beds, but the pots will still need help. I consider the triazicide as just one of the soil additives like peat moss and fertilizer that you need to put down every time you plant. Prevention is easier to come by than cures!
will i have a flower with alot of bugs on it and it could be bugs and wet your flower and also spary your flower with a thing that kills the bugs and make sure it safe too!

good luck!!!!11
