Actually, I find my gofers to be quite useful.
I don't feel too bad about using them, as I myself spent a year or two as a gofer.
So when ever I need something, I tell one of them "Gofer a handful of nails" or "Gofer that bucket of paint". Some day they will learn.

Go to your local garden center and they can help you.
