Neighbor's tree's root growing in my garden, what can I do?

Question:I want to know who is responsible for getting rid of the roots that are growing in my lawn? I am not sure what I can do to get rid of the roots?

Answers:
It's your responsibility to get rid of the roots on your property. When one gets in your way, just cut it out. If it's small you can use a shovel to break it up, or use an ax and just hack away! It doesn't take a lot of time or energy to get rid of them.

I HOPE YOUR REMOVAL OF THE ROOT WON'T MAKE YOUR NEIGHBOR IRATE IT IS ON YOUR PROPERTY IT IS MOST LIKELY YOUR RESPONCABILITY. tHERE IS ROOT REMOVAL SERVICES, AND SPRAYS AT THE GARDEN CENTER. GOOD LUCK
I don't believe your neighbor is responsible for removing the roots, but it's pretty easy. I've always used a small garden saw. If the roots are very thick , I would use an ax.
his tree, his root. he needs to remove it if it's making your life horrible.
after replacing a driveway buckled from tree roots I tell my customers every month go along the edge of the driveway with a shovel and just push it down as if you are going to dig a hole straight down. Place shove on ground and jump on it with both feet driving it into the ground. This will keep the roots from getting back under the slab again...well most of them. trim HIS roots (just part of having neighbors) and do this once a month and I'm sure they will not make another appearance.
Chop it out
It's not the neighbors job to trim roots on your property. Use the spade like the one guy said. If you want to keep them from getting back in your garden you might make a line about a few feet from your garden and dig through that area, then line that line with some copper sulfate to help keep the tree roots from growing through that portion of your yard again.
