When should I pick up the bananas from the banana tree ?

Question:When is the right time ?
they are green, medium size.
Can I cut the lowest graps and let the others on the tree ?

Answers:
I live in the tropics and have a pile of banana trees in my backyard. In my experience you can cut them any time now. They seem to ripen just as quickly if you leave them on the tree. If you cut them they will ripen very quickly and pretty much all at once. Be prepared to make a bunch of banana bread. I like your idea about only cutting half the stalk. I will try this next time. By the way, I don't know what kind you are growing but with mine after you cut them be careful what you put them on as they tend to bleed. Also, around here after they fruit the whole tree gets cut down! Best of luck.

bananas are one of the only fruits that will ripen correctly after you pick them. So when you want to pick them is up to you. But bananas are only fully ripe when they start to get brown. Green and yellow are actually underripe. personally I like them alittle green.
