I believe that each unique mushrooms should grow in a unique place too. Some mushrooms have their names because of where they grow wo I am going to state each mushroom I know to where the best place to grow them
Flybane Mushrooms - grows among pine needles and fallen birch leaves (89% sure)
Cicada Mushrooms - grows from the Cicada Insect (ewww... 100% sure)
Pine Tree Mushrooms - plant it near the roots of a Pine Tree (100% sure)
Tree Mushrooms - grows from dead trees (90% sure)
Pine Cone Mushrooms - grows from pinecones (100% sure)

Get a high times magazine, it grows in some cow poo but only some so there is a special way
take one plastic bag and place one layer of wet hay.put some mushroom seeds.and again place a layer of wet hay.continue this procedure.then wrap the opening of the bag...make holes of moderate size around the plastic bag where the seeds are lying.place this in a dark room...mushroom sprouts in a week
Google "PF Tek" to grow the "funny ones" or try "Fungi Perfecti" for the gourmet varieties.
To add to Sreeraj A's post, if you live near a stable that uses straw for bedding, they more than likely would not charge you to haul away the straw/manure piles.
